We all know that Bunn manufactures some of the best coffee makers. My previous Bunn coffee maker served me daily for a decade before I carelessly dropped and damaged it during a house moving session. Darn! I still felt stupid for that! Unable to forget the taste of my Bunn coffee, I started my journey in search of a replacement, which of course has to be a Bunn! After doing some research and reading some of the awesome reviews on Amazon, I bought the Bunn NHBX Contemporary 10-Cup Home Coffee Brewer.
Wow, I think that was one of the best decisions I have made on Amazon, and I’m really impressed with the performance of this little machine. The Bunn NHBX has brought my standards of coffee brewing to a whole new level. It has several unique features that enhances the flavor of the coffee during the brewing process, and it is so simple and quick to brew a cup of heart warming coffee. In this review, I will share with you why I’m deeply in love with this coffee machine.
Design: Contemporary Breakthrough
The White Version
If you are looking for a coffee maker with a fantastic build quality, you need to check out Bunn. After all, Bunn is well known for high quality and long lasting beverage products, especially for their coffee makers. Design wise, the Bunn NHBX measures 11-3/5 by 9 by 13-2/3 inches and weighs 9 pounds. You will notice that the machine is a tad smaller than the other coffee makers, and as we have a general misconception that bigger machines brew better coffee, we might wrongly associate the Bunn NHBX to be inferior compared to the bigger boys. In fact, the Bunn NHBX is one hell of a coffee maker, and I will explain it in the later part of the review.
The exterior of the Bunn NHBX is assembled with a stainless steel water and high grade plastic for the other major parts. The plastic is heavy weight plastic and the coffee make feels very secured when you hold it in your hands. In addition, there is no creaks or whatsoever during the manhandling process. The Bunn NHBX also comes in the white version, and it looks extra elegant with its white appearance.
The designers have adopted a risky approach to the Bunn NHBX, implementing a minimalistic design with a modern and chic appearance. At the first look, you might have doubts on whether this machine is able to produce a good cup of coffee, as it is very different from the other coffee makers. Gone is the boxy exterior we are so familiar with, and you get more curves and rounded edges with the Bunn NHBX. The risk paid off as it is a completely fresh look among various coffee machines. Overall, I am very satisfied with the modern chic design, together with the sturdy and high quality materials used to manufacture the Bunn NHBX.
Performance: Fast, Easy, Heavenly
The performance of the Bunn NHBX can be summarized in three words: Fast, Easy, Heavenly. This coffee maker produces coffee in under three minutes; is easy to set up with the installation manual; and best of all, produces great tasting coffee that can be described as heavenly.
The Bunn NHBX has several unique features which help to make a good brew. The most distinctive feature lies in its water tank. The water tank has a hot water reservoir design with an internal thermostat, meaning that the water is constantly preheated, allowing you to enjoy a cup of freshly brewed coffee in under three minutes. If you are concerned about the additional energy costs required to keep the water heated up, which is estimated to be around $2 a month, there is a vacation switch which allows you to power off the heating function. If that is what you intend to do, keep in mind that the machine requires 15 minutes to heat up the water. If I were you, I would gladly pay the extra $2 per month for a worry free, fast brewing, great tasting cup of coffee. =)
The Bunn NHBX also has a sprayhead design. This type of sprayhead allows more water to be dispensed into the filter basket which brings out more flavor from the ground coffee. It also speeds up the brewing process when more water is added into the filter basket. The last feature, which is a nice addition, is the warming plate which keeps your coffee heated at hot temperature. You can leave your coffee on the warming plate, finish all your chores and come back for another cup of good coffee with the Bunn NHBX.

The Bottom Line 
Bunn has did it again. The Bunn HNBX is one of the best coffee makers manufactured by Bunn, and as a coffee connoisseur, I’m very satisfied with my purchase. What you are getting is a coffee maker that is capable of producing a cup of rich and flavorful coffee that can easily rival the famous cafes and restaurants. In addition, you are paying much lesser for a cup of good coffee! I can’t imagine coffee lovers who won’tfall in love with the Bunn HNBX.
